Genius – Trouble-shooter – Innovative – Honest – Objective

 

First and foremost, I have a love of IT. For many in business, it can be a love / hate relationship, particularly as now in the 21st Century we are so reliant on everything being automated and seamlessly connected, without failures.

I’m also very lucky. I have never hated my job, and I’ve been doing it for more than 30 years.

There are often preconceptions when it comes to IT and dealing with IT companies or consultants. Many do unfortunately hide behind the technical jargon of systems, software and hardware. This isn’t how I approach working with businesses. As well as being an approachable person myself, the best skill I have is listening and understanding a business’s problems, not just offering an IT solution for the sake of it.

I started in IT as a 17-year-old in an electronics factory where my dad worked. Even then my eye for detail and problem-solving approach was put to good use. I designed a system to record all the faults detected when circuit boards were tested. This data was then collated and forwarded onto the product engineering department where they could utilise it to improve business processes and ultimately improve productivity.

A move to Wales in my early career created a path working with Sage accounting software at a time when this was the first business process that needed to be automated, closely followed by payroll.

The In Between Stuff

For me, IT is all about flow and connections and making sure a business has the systems in place to manage those connections. To ultimately improve productivity, save and make money in all the right places.

I work with businesses on systems aimed at generating revenue through data, analysing and removing wastage. If you have quality data and systems connected in the right way you can only go one way. That is to sell more, which ultimately is the aim for most businesses.

Having worked with businesses of all sizes and from a multitude of sectors, the common denominator across them all is helping them. Problem solving.

Old vs New

As with everything, there are marginal shifts, sometimes much bigger changes and that is very true in IT. Businesses have shifted from IT systems working to reduce costs to ones where generating revenue is now a much-needed outcome.

I enjoy working with all types of businesses, but those that are willing to engage in technology and get the best out of it are the icing on the cake. Working in partnership to create systems that solve a problem or that improve a business’s productivity to grow and diversify is very rewarding, and to see the benefit it has for both parties is immeasurable.

 

Solutions-drive

I’m a trouble-shooter who is pro-active and reactive in my approach. I do fix it! I take the stress out of IT for businesses and can help to identify potential new revenue streams.

It is important where time is so precious to identify problems quickly. I will come into your business and listen to what the problems are. There are no predetermined, one-size-fits-all systems with me. Everything I do is bespoke, customised to you and your business. Not just for the present, but for the future of the business too. You might be facing a real present situation, but as well as fixing that, I will help you to future proof your systems for change and growth.
